Effective Date: September 17, 2026
airqio™ is an air quality monitoring system owned and operated by BigWindow LLC (“BigWindow,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, and disclosed when you use airqio™ monitors, the airqio™ mobile application, the airqio™ website, airqio™ cloud services, and the airqio™ Commercial web dashboard (collectively, the “airqio™ Services”).
airqio™ monitors may operate in Local, Residential, or Commercial mode. The information transmitted to airqio™ differs substantially depending on the operating mode, as described below.
1. airqio™ Operating Modes
Local Mode
A monitor operating in Local mode does not require or use an Internet connection for normal operation.
Air quality measurements remain on the monitor and may be viewed or retrieved locally using the airqio™ mobile application, including through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
Because the monitor does not connect to airqio™ Internet services in Local mode, monitor telemetry and air quality measurements are not transmitted by the monitor to the airqio™ cloud.
The mobile application itself may communicate with Internet services when Internet-dependent application features are used.
Residential Mode
A monitor operating in Residential mode may connect to airqio™ Internet services for functions including:
- time synchronization;
- firmware and over-the-air (“OTA”) updates;
- device configuration and maintenance;
- operational and diagnostic functions; and
- remote diagnostic access to monitor sensors and their reported values.
Sensor information accessed for diagnostic purposes may be transmitted to or viewed through airqio™ Internet services as necessary to diagnose monitor, sensor, firmware, or operational issues.
Residential mode does not provide the continuous Commercial time-series telemetry storage and organizational dashboard features described below.
Commercial Mode
Commercial mode includes the Internet-connected functions available in Residential mode and additionally transmits time-series air quality telemetry and related monitor information to airqio™ cloud infrastructure.
Commercial telemetry is stored to provide historical analysis, visualization, reporting, diagnostics, and other Commercial services. Authorized users may access this information through the airqio™ Commercial web dashboard and other supported airqio™ Services.
Commercial installations may include multiple monitors associated with an organization, facility, site, building, room, area, or other organizational structure.
Commercial services are provided on a recurring subscription or service-fee basis.
2. Information We Collect
Depending upon the airqio™ Services and operating mode you use, we may collect the following categories of information.
Account Information
When an airqio™ account is created or used, we may collect information such as:
- name;
- email address;
- organization or company name;
- account credentials or authentication information;
- account role and permissions; and
- other information provided in connection with the account.
Monitor and Device Information
We may collect information associated with an airqio™ monitor, including:
- monitor identifier or serial number;
- hardware model and revision;
- firmware version;
- operating mode;
- configuration information;
- sensor status and values where applicable;
- connectivity status;
- timestamps;
- error and diagnostic information; and
- information necessary to provide firmware updates, support, maintenance, and security.
The information available to us depends upon the monitor’s operating mode.
Air Quality and Environmental Measurements
airqio™ monitors may measure environmental conditions such as:
- particulate matter;
- volatile organic compounds;
- carbon dioxide or estimated carbon dioxide;
- nitrogen oxide-related measurements;
- temperature;
- relative humidity; and
- other environmental or sensor measurements supported by the monitor.
In Local mode, these measurements remain local to the monitor during normal operation and may be retrieved directly using the airqio™ mobile application.
In Residential mode, sensor measurements may be accessed or transmitted as part of diagnostic and support functions but are not continuously collected and retained as the Commercial time-series telemetry service.
In Commercial mode, measurement telemetry is transmitted to and stored by airqio™ cloud services for historical analysis, visualization, reporting, alerts, diagnostics, and related Commercial features.
Mobile Application Information
When you use the airqio™ mobile application, the application may access information required to discover, connect to, configure, and retrieve information from airqio™ monitors.
Depending on your device and operating system, this may require permissions relating to Bluetooth, nearby devices, local networking, notifications, or other system capabilities.
Operating systems may associate certain permissions, including Bluetooth discovery permissions, with location-related permission categories even when airqio™ does not use those permissions to determine your precise physical location.
Commercial Organization Information
For Commercial accounts, we may store information used to organize and manage monitors, such as:
- organization;
- facility or site;
- building;
- room or area;
- monitor names and descriptions;
- user assignments;
- user roles and permissions;
- alert settings; and
- other customer-provided configuration information.
An organization’s administrator may manage users and determine which organizational airqio™ data those users are authorized to access.
Website and Service Information
When you access airqio™ websites or Internet services, our systems and service providers may automatically receive technical information such as:
- IP address;
- browser type;
- operating system;
- date and time of access;
- requested pages or resources;
- server logs; and
- information used for security, troubleshooting, and service operation.
We may use cookies or similar technologies where necessary for login, session management, security, preferences, analytics, or operation of the Services.
